BEF invested $46,000 to install half the total output of its third community solar system. Chelan Public Utility District agreed to pay BEF back if enough community members subscribed to support the project. Over 670 citizens signed up, oversubscribing the project, and BEF stood to make a profit in year two. The BEF Board voted to reward this successful project by converting its return on investment into a grant, including all additional profits. Chelan PUD is using the money to expand the system and broaden the subscription. |
